Stop Asian Hate

Through various mediums of research and design, internal teams at AYA work tirelessly year-round to produce educational content, supporting our mission to spread awareness of the world’s civic issues and encouraging the involvement of Asian youth in their communities.

How is our content made?

Each of our content departments, including Content Creation, Podcasts, and Toolkits, spend time extensively researching the most topical and relevant events to cover using Asian Youth Act’s resources & team members. Ideation often includes:

  • Using trusted community media platforms to gain primary-source information
  • Evaluating disparities in educational curriculum and news stories
  • Conveying personal stories and messages
  • Getting input from internal team members and you!

Our internal teams’ directors work hard to ensure topics & content assignments are presented in an appropriate manner. Directors will frequently:

  • Inquire of the most interested team member to take on the assignment
  • Delegate hybrid or partner projects as necessary in order to split up workload and/or gain multiple perspectives in writing/design
  • Scout interviewees or other special guests to be included in the assignment
  • Provide specific research guidelines to ensure the topic is communicated clearly and respectfully — especially helpful for broader topics

Our internal research teams contribute the stories, facts, statistics, and historical events needed to make our content special, empowering, and educational. Our researchers continuously emphasize:

  • Using credible and unbiased publications
  • Citing and giving credit where due
  • Analyzing a myriad of various sources from different communities to gain an intercultural perspective
  • Making content digestible and understandable to all

Our internal design teams contribute visual appeal, emotion, perceptive cohesion, and cultural unity in order to make our content vibrant, reliable, and relatable. Our designers continuously emphasize:

  • Connections between the visual design and the written content
  • Keeping up with social media & industry design trends, while keeping organizational identity intact
  • Maintaining cultural integrity to foster deeper interactions with audience
  • Organizing content in a logical, spacious, aesthetic manner

Our internal editing team ensures that no step has been missed in the process and that the content is appropriate and ready-to-go for posting. Oftentimes, our editors:

  • Fix grammatical or visual/symmetrical errors
  • Adjust the tone or word phrasing of content
  • Add contributor credits & format sources
  • Draft a bio/caption and/or short summary of the main points discussed
  • Organize town halls/seminars, along with other content assignments, by writing discussion questions
  • Ensure content matches Asian Youth Act’s mission and educational focus/target audience

Finally, the end product is sent to our internal Social Media team for posting & Technology team for website integration. Their duties include:

  • Posting content, stories, and promotion
  • Analyzing post performance/insights, delegating data back to Content teams
  • Reformatting content to fit various platforms, if necessary
  • Sending content to promotion groups & partner organizations
